where are you going where have you been
First i have to say i liked the story, at least I found it a lot better than “A Rose for Emily”. I think the dialogs in the story were good and thanks to good dialogs it was more of an enjoyable reading. What I find odd about the story is Connie at least for a few moments did seem interested in Arnold. I think it is ridicilous because any girl with little bit of logic would understand that something is wrong when someone ended up in your door asking for a date WITH A FRIEND. Who would go ask a date with a friend near him?

Could there be something inside of Connie that makes her entertain the idea of going with Arnold even for such a short time, I mean something about her psychologically, and could that be combined with Oates’ intention in writing this story?
